JRC Tellus SME

Your carbon footprint, without hiring a consultant.

Your bank, your buyer or your listed customer has asked for your emissions. JRC Tellus SME turns the bills you already have, electricity, diesel, flights and waste, into your emissions figures, Scope 1 and 2 on Starter and all three scopes on Group, and writes the methodology and scope & boundary section for you. From RM30 a month.

How it works

Three things, in order.

1. Enter what you used

Electricity in kWh, diesel in litres, flights by route, water, waste, business travel. Year, quarter or month, whatever your records actually look like. Attach the bill as evidence while you are there.

2. JRC Tellus does the maths

Each activity is multiplied by the official emission factor for that reporting year, from the factor set you choose: UK DESNZ, US EPA or IPCC. Change a figure and every total downstream follows. Prior years keep the factors they were reported with.

3. Generate the report

Your scope totals (1 and 2 on Starter; 1, 2 and 3 on Group), an entity table, a coverage statement saying which months are actually filled in, the factors and vintages used, and the consolidation approach applied, as PDF or Word, ready to send.

The part people pay for

The write-up nobody wants to draft.

Generated from your actual data

Anyone can multiply litres by a factor. The hard part is the paragraph that says which entities are in the boundary, on what consolidation basis, over what period, using which factor set of which vintage, and what is missing.

JRC Tellus writes that from your data, not from a template. If only nine of twelve months are entered, the report says so rather than quietly implying a full year.

Worded so it survives scrutiny

Prepared with reference to the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard. Never “in accordance with”, which would imply a conformance assessment nobody has carried out.

Every figure keeps its audit trail: who entered it, when, what changed, and the evidence attached. If your buyer's auditor asks, the answer is in the file.

The standard your buyers use

One set of questions, not one per customer.

Listed companies must report Scope 3, the emissions of their whole supply chain, so sooner or later they ask you. The Simplified ESG Disclosure Guide is the standard set of questions they ask with.

Starter

Scope 1 and 2

Your own fuel and electricity, measured properly with the factors and vintages recorded. The guide's energy and emissions questions are the ones buyers chase first, and this answers them with numbers an auditor can trace.

Answers the guide's energy and emissions disclosures

Group

Adds Scope 3

Your supply chain, the emissions your listed customers need for their own reporting. Consolidates up to 10 companies into one report.

The emissions figure Scope 1 and 2 cannot answer

Published by Capital Markets Malaysia, an affiliate of the Securities Commission. Adoption is voluntary. There is no deadline. What moves most SMEs is a customer asking. The guide's people and governance topics (labour, training, diversity, policies) are collected on the consultant-supported JRC Tellus platform, one step up from SME.

When you outgrow it

The same platform, opened up.

JRC Tellus SME is one tier of a platform built for listed-company disclosure. When you need Bursa Malaysia, IFRS S1 & S2, GRI, SASB or FTSE4Good, independent assurance sign-off, targets, or a consultant working beside your team, nothing has to be migrated. The data is already there. Talk to JRC when you get there.
